Protests and blood on the streets: repressive state, police brutality and #EndSARS protest in Nigeria

This article investigates how the Nigerian state is implicated in police brutality and clampdown on #EndSARS protesters its implications for democracy, development national security. The used primary data comprising 38 telephone interviews, 19,609 Facebook posts/reposts 24,799 Twitter tweets/retweets, complementing it with a wide range of secondary data. From analyses data, shows there an obvious mutual trust deficit between government citizens. supported by one-third 36 states Nigeria which witnessed sporadic protests destruction establishments. Use heavy firearms against unarmed escalated conflict from civil disobedience to demand change government. Thus, establishment institutional mechanisms disciplinary measures that control excesses security agents during imperative protect human rights protesters.
